Meeting Minutes September 2006
|
| |
Meeting opened at 7:30pm by Club President, Steve, N9UDO.
Minutes of the August meeting were read and passed as printed.
Treasurer's report: checking acct. BAL $4,843.16.
Old Business:
Swapfest: 11 tables pre-sold with complementary tickets.
24 total tables were sold and about 214 people attended the swapfest. We discussed looking for another place to hold the fest, as the Sauk County Fair Board has continuously raised the rent of the building and is getting very costly to have it there. There are several places that were suggested. The board will look into some of these. If any member has any other suggestions, please contact any of the board members with ideas.
We had a donation of a radio for the Swapfest by Brad Pointon, KB9VMC, of Pointon Communications and was
wondering if we would be interested in having him donate again next year. Motion by Don, K9JYX, to accept and seconded by Dave, KB9CSW. Motion passed. We now are able to advertise this in our flyer for next year's fest.
A big thanks was handed to Columbia County ARES Group for the use of their Communications Van with the talk-in station. It was very much appreciated and they did a GREAT job! Thanks guys.
501(c)(3) - Rick N9ROY mentioned that the IRS sent Sauk County ARES/RACES Inc. a notice, that as of June 1, 2006, the fee for filing for a 501(c)(3) was raised from $150.00 to $300.00. Rick, N9ROY motioned to continue the process of obtaining the 501(c)(3) status for the club. Dave, KB9CSW seconded. Motion passed.
New Business:
Early last year, it was mentioned that we might be able to help Sauk County ARES/RACES with the filing fee for their 501(c)(3). It was brought up as they had less than $100.00 in their treasury. A discussion followed and it was tabled to check out past minutes of meetings to find the amount and the information on it.
There will be a demonstration of D-Star at the Space Place in Madison on Sept 19. KB9VMC had a small demo at OUR meeting with some Icom 3061 commercial radios. Brad and N9UDO were able to receive each other with NO antenna attached. It showed the capabilities of how a digital signal locks into the rig and compared to an analog signal. The difference was significant.
The By-Laws state that the September meeting is for the election of officers. (where did the TRAIN come from??) N9UDO asked for nominations for the position of President, with no response. He asked SEVERAL times and was met with silence. Gary, W9ULK motioned for the current officers to retain their positions. Seconded by Don, K9JYX. Motion passed.
