Meeting Minutes August 2006
Meeting was called to order by president Steve Schulze at 7:30 p.m.

Steve, N9UDO reported that the all Ham picnic was a success with 38 people in attendance.

Bill, N9KXX moved to accept the June minutes. Second by Gary, W9LUK. Passed

Bill, N9KXX reported a balance in the treasury of $3,429.79 with Fairgrounds rent and cleanup deposits paid. Bills for $46.08 from field day and the picnic were turned in. Tom N9PQJ moved to pay the bills with a second from Gary, W9LUK. Motion carried.

Old Business:
Tom, N9PQJ reported on the success of field day. Over 250 contacts logged. The central logging using wireless routers worked great.

The Wild Blue satellite internet worked great at showing the thunderstorm circling over Owen Park until the rain got so heavy the connection was lost. Every one got soaked while tearing down the site.

Gary, W9ULK gave a report on the special Olympics held at Stevens Point. Next year the organization wants to give more responsibility to the Hams.

New Business:
10th annual Swapfest.
Steve, N9UDO reported $58.00 in swapfest pre-sales so far. Setup at the fairgrounds will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday Aug, 11. Report at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday. The doors open at 7:00 a.m.

Karen talked about food service. Will most likely be like last year. Tom, N9PQJ said that door prizes from the ARRL are on the way. Grand prize this year is an Icom IC-T90A triband portable radio. 6 meters, 2 meters and 70 centimeters. It will scan from below the broadcast band to 999 Mhz. The radio is donated by Pointon Communications of Baraboo. The drawing will be held at 11:00 a.m. and the winning ticket holder must be present.

A discussion ensued as to whether we should move swapfest from the Fairgrounds as the rent is eating up any revenue we get. Steve reported on the possibility of renting the hockey arena. The rent is only $200 and there is a kitchen available. The only downside is that there aren't that many tables available. Other possible locations were also discussed.

Bill, N9KXX reported that the club may be receiving some donated equipment from the families of some silent keys. More information will be coming.

Winner of buck night was KC9FRL who was not present. Next month the pot will be $2.00

Bill N9KXX moved to adjourn. 2nd by Tom, N9PQJ. Motion carried.
